The Sonoma County Portrait Studio That Comes to You
Jason Guy Photography is an on-location Sonoma County portrait studio – meaning I bring the entire setup to you. I set up everything on-site—usually in a living room, garage, or even a spare office for commercial shoots. To create the looks you see on this page, I’ll simply need clear space with good light control. Not sure if your space will work? Just reach out and tell me about it. I’m happy to help you figure what looks will be possible in your space.
Space Requirements To Capture Studio Portraits At Your Location
To create studio portraits at your location, I will need an area that has at least 12′ (W) x 14′ (L) x 8′(H) of unobstructed working space. You’ll get more style options if your ceilings are taller and if we have total control over the environments light, but neither is a deal breaker if you’re flexible on style.
Simply put, if you have enough space to park your car in your garage or a spacious living room, you probably have a great space for me to bring my mobile Sonoma County portrait studio to you! I typically photograph this style of portrait on white, black, or muslin backdrops, but I can accommodate custom looks if you have something specific in mind.
How Much Does a Portrait Session Cost?
The starting price for a studio portrait session with me is $1,952. That includes your photo shoot, professional hair and makeup, and six of your favorite images—each one hand-retouched by me. You’ll also get high-resolution files for printing, web-optimized versions for easy sharing, and either fine art prints or a custom album featuring your selected images. I’ll help you choose the best shots and design everything after the session.
To give you a ball park estimate of what to expect, my average clients chooses to spend between $2,000 – $4,000 on their final image collection. You don’t have to make a decision on how many you want right away. The $1,952 base package includes six images, and you can always add more once you’ve seen your gallery. The more images you choose, the lower the price per image. It’s all flexible and based on what you love most from your session.
What Should I Wear For My Studio Portraits?
Start by picking a background you love. Once you’ve nailed down the backdrop color, figuring out what to wear becomes a whole lot easier.
From there, think about how you want to show up in your photos. You can either harmonize with the background or stand out from it. For example, a black dress on a black background creates a sleek, monochromatic look. If you want more contrast, pair a black outfit with a white background to pop.
I always recommend checking out my guide on how to color coordinate outfits for photos. It’ll help you choose colors that either complement or contrast your chosen background.
Whatever direction you’re leaning, let’s talk about it beforehand. I’ll help you style the session and map out a plan so you get exactly the vibe you’re going for.

How Long Do Studio Portraits Take?
Most sessions take 3 to 7 hours from start to finish, including setup and cleanup. It all depends on how many looks we’re shooting.
