How I Help You Get Better Quality Matches
In online dating a great close-up headshot where you’re connecting with the viewer of the photo is a proven strategy for getting profile clicks. That said, it’s also important to add additional photos to get them curious about who you are.
For improved interactions, I recommend you include the following shots in your dating profile:
- A close-up headshot
- A full-body shot
- A candid photo of you engaging in hobbies or activities
- A selfie

Client Before & After’s
I get it—most of the time, online dating can feel like a waste of time, and it might be if you don’t do a couple of things right. For example, did you know that profiles with photos get 700% more interactions than profiles without?
This means that if you don’t have a great profile photo that makes people stop scrolling, many potential matches will pass on you without giving your profile a fair shot. That’s why a headshot that connects is so important. It’s literally the difference between someone actually reading your profile or passing.
The following are some of my recent client before and after’s. All before photos were captured before the client’s makeover with available light and without posing direction. All after pictures are directed, lit, and hand retouched by me as your Sonoma County online dating profile photographer.

Online Dating Profile FAQ
As a Sonoma County online dating profile photographer, I often receive questions from clients looking for advice on how to look more attractive for their online dating photos. Below, I’ll address some of the most common queries to guide you in optimizing your dating profiles.
How Many Photos Should I Put On My Online Dating Profile?
To maximize your response rate you should have at least 4 photos:
• A close-up headshot
• A full-body shot
• A candid photo of you engaging in hobbies or activities
• A selfie
At a bare minimum, your main profile photo should be captured professionally to maximize your reach and increase your profile views. The other supporting images will help you get better better matches by giving people more context about what you look like physically. These photos will also give your profile depth attracting people who share your interests.
To maximize your conversions 6-7 images seems to be the sweet spot for giving people plenty of context about who you are without overwhelming them or coming across as self absorbed.
How Much Do Online Dating Profile Photos Cost?
If you’re on a budget, a dating profile headshot with me starts at $275.00 and will get you more profile views. This includes your favorite image hand retouched by me and web optimized files so you can upload them easily to your dating profile. You can then supplement the rest of the photos you’ll need to complete your profile yourself.
If you want to totally transform your profile, I can create a turn key collection of 6 magazine quality portraits of you for $1,952.00. This includes high res files for printing and backup as well as web optimized files for uploading to your dating profiles. It also includes a professional makeover by my makeup artist and a relaxed multi hour photo shoot with me with me, as your online dating profile photographer.
What Are The Do’s and Don’ts For Dating Profile Pictures?
DO
• Use a mix of photos, that show your full body and your personality.
• Smile with direct eye contact for your main profile photo.
• Use current photos that are less then 1 year old or sooner if you’re appearance has changed meaningfully.
• Dress up for at least one or two shots.
Don’t
• Over edit or apply filters to your photos, this will make you appear less genuine.
• Use group photos as your main profile photo.
• Post photos with negative expressions like angry looks, flipping off the camera, etc.
• Use excessive selfies. One will boost your authenticity if the rest of your photos are professional, but too many can signal vanity.
• Hide behind sunglasses or hats, especially for your main profile photo.
• Post shirtless photos. Most will read this as an arrogant or desperate.
