Butt Poses for Boudoir Photos

As a boudoir photographer, one of the most common areas my clients like to highlight is their booty for their boudoir photos. To help make this region pop there’s two main positions I like to direct my clients from for the best butt poses.

The first is from the standing position facing away from the camera. The second is while prone on her tummy. From both of these positions there’s a multitude of ways to enhance her curves. This post will show you some of my go to poses I use to enhance this region for my clients at their photoshoots.

Standing Butt Poses For Boudoir Photos

The big trick to making her booty look good from the standing position is to have her face away from the camera and push her butt toward you or to the side. This will make her butt look bigger because anything brought closer to the camera will get accentuated, while everything pushed away will look smaller.

Although most women usually dislike the idea of making their butt look larger, this move almost always enhances her curves in a way she’ll appreciate. The reason this tends to work so well is because by pushing her butt toward the camera, her waist will naturally get pushed away from the camera. This will make her waist look smaller by comparison. The enhancement of her hip to waist ratio is the key to enhancing her booty.

Additionally, when directing her to push her butt toward the camera, it’s almost always a good idea to have her push one butt cheek toward the camera. Biasing one butt cheek toward the camera will help build extra curves into her body and will allow you to further finesse her hip to waist ratio.

Master The Art of Posing Women

In this boudoir poses PDF guide I’ll show you how to pose the nude female form in a way that tastefully flatters her body type and creates emotion. This guide is intended for beginner and intermediate photographers and will teach you how to balance the proportions of any woman to make her look her best.

By first teaching you the fundamentals of posing, these principals will help you progress to a point where you can confidently pose any woman in an improvised fashion.

Butt Poses For Boudoir Photography Lying Prone

The second way I like to direct women for boudoir photos that will enhance her booty is from the prone position while she lays on her tummy.

There are two main tricks I use to make her butt look shapely from this position. The first is by having her bring one one knee up into her tummy like she would for an army crawl. The second is to have her come up on both knees and bring her head as close to the floor or bed as possible.

In both cases, the idea is basically to make her butt higher than the rest of her body. By directing her into these positions you’ll also be able to cue her to arch her lower back which will help make her boudoir poses more sensual for obvious reasons.

Once you direct her in a flattering position you’ll basically want to walk around her and capture her from all angles. With precise lighting, it’s possible to make even edgy boudoir poses from the rear tasteful by hiding her genitalia in shadow.

I am a portrait photographer based out of Sonoma, California. I create portraits for people of all ages with the goal of making images that are timeless. Portraits you will look back on decades from now, and still love them just as much then as you do today. While flattering lighting and pose are important, capturing how others see you is what I ultimately strive for.
