Sonoma County Maternity Photographer

As a maternity photographer based in Sonoma County, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing some truly magical moments. Today’s session was no exception, featuring a beautiful momma-to-be and her loving husband. They had a unique request for their shoot. He was drawn to the majestic redwoods, while she dreamt of photos by the sea. To honor their wishes, we decided to split our time between the lush redwoods of Occidental and the serene beaches of Bodega.

Transitioning between these two stunning locales, we planned meticulously for each setting. Knowing the importance of aesthetics, we selected two outfits for the couple. One ensemble was designed to complement the towering redwoods, echoing their natural elegance. The other set aimed to blend seamlessly with the beach’s tranquil vibes. This approach ensured that our photos would not only capture their love but also harmonize with the breathtaking scenery of Sonoma County.

In the redwoods, the mom-to-be wore a stunning red dress from Momma Bump Rentals. It’s crucial to match outfits with the environment. The redwoods, rich in green and vibrant orange, offer a unique scene. Colors like red complement and enhance this setting.

We dressed her husband in a burgundy shirt and dark blue jeans. This pairing aimed to blend with her dress and the natural backdrop. I adore how their outfits merged perfectly with the redwoods. This careful styling highlights the moment’s beauty and the setting’s grandeur, leading to even more stunning photos.

Maternity Photos Bodega Bay

For their maternity photos at Bodega Bay, this momma-to-be opted for a change into a white dress with flowy bell sleeves. In my experience, I’ve found that flowy sleeves are always a good idea in this area, as it’s often quite windy.

I’ve also found that while vibrant colors like red can be striking; white, cream, and brown colored dresses have a unique way of blending into the beach environment. I think her dress harmonized well with the desaturated palette of Bodega Bay’s sands, making her an integral part of the landscape rather than a stark contrast.

To complement her look, we chose a white button-up shirt and brown chinos for her husband. This decision not only complemented her attire but also harmonized with the beach setting. Such color coordination between your couple’s photos and the background is crucial. It enhances the natural beauty of the location when you choose colors that better pair with it. This styling approach at Bodega Bay serves as a perfect example of how color coordinating outfits can enhance the quality of your final images.
